Official Bootleg UK Press Kit

Sorry for the delay in posting, I've been meaning to all week but working nights has kicked me in the head a bit. Anyway...

What we have here is the UK press release for the Official Bootleg double 7" set that was released on Vinyl Solution / American Leather records in 1991.

I ordered the record directly from VS in '92 I think it was, and as a bonus they included this with my order. Cheers fellas!

Epitaph press release for Feel The Darkness reissue 1996.

Just a small post tonight, a scan of the press release Epitaph Records sent out when they re-released the Feel The Darkness album in 1996.

Apparently the deal was done by Slayer Hippy without anyone else in the band knowing about it which caused some animosity between him and Jerry A.

Live ULU London (review and recording)

I was browsing through my folder of scans and came across a review from Kerrang of their gig at the ULU from 1991.

As I was uploading this I remembered that there's a bootleg LP from this very show in circulation. A very nice sounding bootleg at that.

"Record Collectors Are Potential Millionaires" is a soundboard recording, limited to a thousand numbered copies. It's still pretty easy to get hold of should anyone want a copy. The packaging isn't anything special but it's still a nice release nevertheless.

Track list is as follows:

01. Discontent
02. Getting The Fear
03. Typical
04. Motorhead
05. Plastic Bomb
06. Give It Up
07. Taken By Surprise
08. Just To Get Away
09. Alan's On Fire
10. Marked For Life
11. Short Fuse
12. A.A
13. Kick Out The Jams

Slayer Hippy interview - UK Resist fanzine, issue 6, 1992.

Interesting interview with Slayer Hippy regarding the bands cancelled UK tour in 1992. Shame how it ended up for the fella.

Poison Idea - Raw Power, UK TV, 1992.

This is it, the one that started it all. Let me explain...

Back in the early to mid 90's there was a rock and metal TV show back in the UK that was broadcast in the early hours of Friday morning, usually around 3 or 4 AM. Every Thursday night I'd set the video to record it and I'd watch it before school the next day.

Well on this fateful night I witnessed something that I would forever hold dear. Amongst the dross that week there was an interview with a fellow called Jerry from a band called Poison Idea. I watched the interview with what seemed to be a very quiet and mild mannered bloke, then saw the video footage of nothing but pure abject chaos! It was beautiful and I was addicted.

I thank Poison Idea and hold them in high regard today for opening my eyes in 1992 and showing me the way.

Anyway the clip is broken down like this...interview, Taken By Surprise promo and Punish Me promo.

The video for Punish Me is one of the greatest things committed to video tape and I would kill to see more footage from the gig in question. A whole pro shot recording would probably make me prolapse from pure joy.

Well enough talking....here's the video.

Live at the Astoria London, 1993...

This is a clip I got a while ago, a digital capture of a VHS sourced recording. Pro shot and pro audio, I just wish there was more! If anyone knows of it's origin please tell.

2 songs: Death, Agonies & Screams (GISM) and Feel The Darkness.

Video states incorrect year, the band had split up by April of 94. This was part of their April 93 UK tour.

Enjoy.

Metal Hammer magazine, UK, 1992...Portland's Poison

Here's another from the archives. I'm trying to post all of the metal / rock magazine stuff I have first as I think that's probably the stuff a lot of people may have missed. This one is pretty good, not a piece about the music, more so the bands take on the US and the music business etc.

Enjoy.

Darby Crash Rides Again LP (Early Years) TKO Records...

Here's one for vinyl fans...

After announcing some time ago that there would be a series of Poison Idea releases and re-releases, TKO Records have kicked off the series with the marvelous looking Darby Crash Rides Again LP.

Here's the info right from the label...

"
This month, TKO Records kicks off the much anticipated POISON IDEA “Kings Of Punk” reissue series with “Darby Crash Rides Again: The Early Years.” This LP collects twenty-nine tracks from the band’s earliest days. Included are the 100% previously unreleased “Boner’s Kitchen” demo from 1981, the complete “Darby Crash Rides Again” demo from 1982, the complete uncut live-on-the-air set from the 1983 KBOO radio benefit, and lastly, outtakes from the “Record Collectors Are Pretentious Assholes” recording session. Much of this material is appearing on vinyl for the first time. All the recordings have been meticulously restored by Enormous Door Mastering for this release. This LP comes in a gatefold jacket and printed inner sleeve that is jam packed with old flyers, liner notes and tons of previously unpublished photos from the band’s beginnings. All copies include a download coupon. Really, this LP is a complete no-brainer for POISON IDEA fans or any fan of the early days of American Hardcore Punk".

I emailed them
and asked for info on the pressing numbers, here's how they broke it down for me.

Blue vinyl - 170 copies (available only from TKO or the band)
.

Blue vinyl 'Tour Edition' - Available on their recent West Coast
dates, this was the blue vinyl version of the album that came with a signed and numbered Obi strip.

Black vinyl - 700 copies.

Aside from those, there's also 25 test pressi
ngs and a future 'top secret' splattered vinyl edition. Not sure what that ones about but it's interesting.

And you can get your hands on a copy from TKO Records.

All links working again....

Once again, greetings.

I just want to let you all know that I have uploaded all of the old images to a new picture host after my old one went offline so check back and see what you may have missed.

There are plenty of things to come so keep checking back and feel free to contribute in any way you can.

Cheers!

Chaos In Tejas 2010 photos / Back from the dead?

Okay, as It's annoyingly obvious to people who check out this blog (or did before it fell stagnant) the picture host that I used for years without issue has gone offline...taking my images with it. When I found out about this I intended to re-up the files elsewhere but I just never got around to it.

I'm going to try and fix the situation in the coming days as I do have the original scans on disc somewhere, I just have to dig them out.

I found that imageshack does not resize so from this point forth (after this post anyway) I'll be using that service for picture hosting.

While I'm here typing away I'm going to add my pictures from last years Chaos In Tejas festival.

It was a strange set, Jerry looked very nervous and not quite there. Physically he looked healthier than I'd seen him in a while, or at least a bit thinner anyway, but mentally something seemed up. I was later informed that he was apparently really ill and possibly should have cancelled the show but didn't. Apparently he went right from the airport to the hospital after getting back home.
